What makes a mother

I found this poem online last week. I wanted to share it with everyone.

In Loving Memory: Emagyn Riley Hayes 11-11-2002 to 12-10-2002

What makes a Mother

I thought of you and closed my eyesAnd prayed to God today.

I asked what makes a MotherAnd I know I heard him say.

A Mother has a baby

This we know is true.'

But God, can you be a Mother

When your baby's not with you?Yes, you can,

He repliedWith confidence in His voice

I give many women babies

When they leave is not their choice.

Some I send for a lifetime

And others for a day

.And some I send to feel your womb

But there's no need to stay.

I just don't understand this, God

I want my baby here

He took a breath and cleared His throat

And then I saw a tear.

I wish I could show you

What your child is doing today.

If you could see your child smile

With other children and say:

"We go to earth to learn our lessons

Of love and life and fear.

My Mommy loved me oh so much

I got to come straight here.

I feel so lucky to have a Mom

Who had so much love for me

I learned my lesson very quickly

My Mommy set me free.

I miss my Mommy oh so much

But I visit her each day.

When she goes to sleep

On her pillow's where I lay.

I stroke her hair and kiss her cheek

And whisper in her ear.

"Mommy don't be sad today

I'm your baby and I'm here."

So you see my dear sweet one

Your children are ok

Your babies are here in My home

And this is where they'll stay.

They'll wait for you with Me

Until your lesson is through.

And on the day that you come home

They'll be at the gates for you.

So now you see what makes a Mother

It's the feeling in your heart.

It's the love you had so much of

Right from the very start.

Though some on earth may not realize

You are a Mother until their time is done.

They'll be up here with Me one day

And you know you're the best one!

I love you Emagyn

Mouse Trap

You wanna hear something funny!!!!

After the kids left tonight I put Ian to bed mind you he had his meds an hour earlier. I went to bed. I got up to come and get some pain meds from the kitchen and I notice all the lights are on and I know I made sure they all were off when I went to bed. I turn the corner of the living room and Ian is sitting in Harlen's chair in living room watching T.V. He had not 1 but 2 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and a huge glass of soda. I asked him "what the hell are you doing"? He looked at me just a plain and said "what, I was hungry so I made me something to eat." ok I can understand that so i keep heading to the kitchen to get my meds. As I get closer to the kitchen I notice a slice of American cheese unwrapped laying on the living room floor. I asked him what it was and if it was his. He answered, "it's cheese" & "kinda! I had to dig a little deeper. He obviously was not forthcoming with any info. So I simply asked, Ian why do you have cheese on my living room floor? He replied "I opened it and put it there to see if we had mice". I kept thinking I saw something moving so I wanted to make sure it was not a mouse.

I died laughing at him
You have to love kids and the crazy ideas they come up with.

FINALLY.....ME time

Total bliss
If you look close you can see the clouds reflection in the water.

Ianbian took this pic.

American Lake
North Fort Lewis Wa

Solo Point
Dupont WA

Yesterday I finally got some me time! I had about 90 minutes between kiddos and my appointment. I took TOTAL advantage of it. I took a drive down to Solo Point and then to American Lake. The scenery is so beautiful! Most people complain about Washington because it rains so much here. Look at my pics above and tell me what there is to be unhappy about here. It is PERFECT!

The Kong, Lola's best Friend (inside anyways)

Lola has a new best friend. At least while she is inside. Her KONG! I am sure you have thought how funny it would be to watch your dog lick peanut butter from the roof of her mouth and/or your fingers . Well guess what? You are not the first person to think of it. A while back we got Lola a kong. You can buy the actual treats to stuff inside of it from the pet store (kinda pricey) or you can be a MOM and put your kids Peanut butter inside of it. Yes! Regular peanut butter ( I suggest without nuts, that might come out gross). Slather it all inside of the kong and your dog will have hours of licking fun. Check out petsmart for the different types of kongs.

Follow up....

  1. Ok so you probably read my blog about Walmart and the shipping problems I had with them. I called Walmart.com today to complain. I explained that the item was a gift and my son now knows what he is getting. I got an "I apologize for the inconvenience". I was also advised that walmart ships items directly as they are ordered. They do not box items. That is up to the discretion of UPS. Tomorrow my task will be to follow up with UPS to see exactly what the protocol is for shipping items at Christmas. It would only make sense to box items at christmas.

I have to complain .....

We all know it is December already and Christmas shopping is in full swing. Well I did some shopping online last week. To my surprise my packages were delivered TODAY! That is great! I love fast shipping. What I did not like it have over $300.00 worth of stuff left on my porch. I was home. The UPS driver placed them on the porch and left. HELLO! I was home. Knock on the door and wait for an answer. I am going to write to UPS to inquire on the signature required policy. Just because I live on post does not mean that all of my neighbors are honest.

That is not even the best part of my evening. As a friend goes to leave my home, not knowing UPS has come. He opens the door and there is Rock Band in it's original box (not wrapped). Who happens to be standing there when that happens? Ian, of course. I did my best to play it off as if it were not his. I am sure he knows better. Why would walmart ship something without it being wrapped or in a bigger box. I just don't get it. I wonder how many gifts walmart has already spoiled this year.

I just came across some tasty information I thought I would share. I am so grateful to our men and women serving in Iraq and other areas. I am always excited when I find a company that "salutes" them if you will.
Dunkin Donuts donates the coffee. Dunkin Donuts will send a case (24 one pound bags) to service members serving in Iraq. Dunkin Donuts donates the coffee and pays all the shipping costs.Go to www.dunkindonuts.com Fill out the form. Put the soldiers name and APO address.Click on "submit"They are getting a lot of requests so it may take a little time. You can also write with the same info to:Dunkin Brands130 Royall Street Canton, MA 02121Or call customer relations at 781-737-3000 (they are very friendly and helpful)
From Dunkin' Donuts:Dunkin' Brands, Inc. supports the brave men and woman of the United

Friendship

Friendship: a person attached to another by feelings of affection or personal regard.

A Person Like You
(author unknown)

The meaning of being special,

is found in a person like you.

A friend who is so thoughtful,

in everything they say and do.

A person who betters my life,

by being a part of it each day.

Someone who touches my heart,

in a special, and unique way.

A person who's always giving,

and willing to help all they can.

Who truly gives from their heart,

showing they care for who I am.

This friend I have found in you,

is as special as one could be.

And I am so blessed in my life,

that you've been a friend to me.

Do not tell your 9 year old to clean his mess

Happy Thanksgiving!

We spent with day with our adopted family and we had a blast. Felt just like home. We got home after being gone for 5 hours and I told Ian to let the dog out. Well of course the tie out was all tangled up. Rather than untangle it Ian just decided not to let Lola outside. Needless to say she went potty in the house by the back door. Not her fault and she never potty"s in the house. I told Ian it was his responsibility to clean it up because he did not put her outside to potty like I told her to. BIG mistake! Ian decide he would mop the kitchen floor with Dawn dish soap. I asked him why he had soap all over the floor. He said "mom I might as well clean the entire kitchen floor if I was already going to mop a small spot". How can you argue with that logic. I will never tell him to clean the floor again unless I am in the room to supervise.

kids will love it & you will love to give it to them!

I recently visited my friends blog. She has found the answer to every moms question. What can I give my kids on the go that is healthy (kinda)? Check out her blog. http://tanyapeila.blogspot.com/2008/11/little-mans-favorite-snack-and-giveaway.html

She is having a give away! Go see for yourself! You might just win!

Not enough pictures ???

This is my first time blogging. So here goes!

I know personally with my hubby being deployed I can not seem to get enough called Oppictures. I know my hubby feels the same way. I found this cool program online eration: Love reunited. You can search in your local area to find a photographer. Once you find one you contact them. You will get a couple forms to sign for release. Then set a date for pictures to be taken. The photographer will take several shots. They will be developed by the photographer and then placed in a book. The book will be sent directly to your loved one over seas. The best part is yet to come. Once you get your loved ones arrival date, let the photographer know. He/she will then meet you at the homecoming to capture the "first kiss" or "first hug". It is totally FREE! Check it out. http://oplove.org/
